Iphone Art attempt # 2

My second attempt at using an Iphone to make some art, you can find the first one here. It's of a troy truck that my Niece was playing with at my Mum and Dad's house.

One of the problems with the program (Sketch Book Mobile X) I found was a few area's you couldn't draw in, mainly the bottom right had corner; and the zooming and page scrolling was a little tricky to get used to.

Moon Clouds Triangle

An idea that I've been playing around with for a while.

Last night at about 11pm, I then thought maybe I should put a wolf in the centre with sunglasses, and lasers, but unfortunately it's a little hard due to not have the old Wacom, which makes it easy to adjust pictures.

You can get a T-Shirt with this on Redbubble

First attempt at some Iphone art

I posted here some time back about making art on iphones, and I finally did it, well not on my Iphone but on Queenie's. It's a logo I've been playing with for her YouTube channel, it has a letter 'Q' with a crown in the middle. The inspiration is fairly clear with this one coming again from the works of Mark Rothko.

The program I used to do this was Sketch Book Mobile X, which was the lite verison or free version. I found the zooming and moving around the canvas a little difficult, and using my finger wasn't the best, I may have to hunt down a pen like this one to use.

T-Shirt Idea: 8 Bit Australia Historical Game

I had this idea the other day for a T-Shirt design, like one of those text and image role playing games from the late 80's early 90's, but with an Aussie twist, then I realised that in 1990 when I was in year 7, or was it year 8, we used to play this game called Gold Mine or Gold Rush on these BBC computers.

I found the above text from and is from a book by David Carnegie (1871-1900) called Spinifex and Sand. The picture was in created in the wonderfull Microsoft Paint, where I used a picture of the WA landscape mix with a dead horse and an old picture of Bourke and Wills. I painted of these to try and get some sort of 8 bit computer game feel to it. Microsoft Paint is such a basic tool for making things, but sometimes that can lead to making something very creative.

I was thinking of the moon the other day for some reason, and it then got me think of Round and Round a song by big hair band Rat

The moon above I used a filter (which I can remember) in photoshop to distort it from the original.

This is up as a T-Shirt at Redbubble or Zazzle.

What Childrens books do you like?

While hanging with my 11 month old Niece in Canberra it got me thinking what Childrens books did I read when I was young. I would also say that these books were one of my first encounter with art and more than likely has inspiration and influence my style.

As above Roald Dahl and illustration by Joseph Wright for What a Mess are two books that come to mind. What I liked about these books, and still enjoy is that these drawing can be enjoyed on multiple viewing's as there are many things going on.

What were your favourite books as a young child?

Tonight I've been quickly working on this drawing for a T-Shirt comp over at Redbubble. It still needs a little something before I submit it. I think the comp end on the 21st, and this is a fairly quick idea, hopefully more people will see what I do.

Let me know what you think.

Vampire Teeth # 2

I made this design using my Wacom some time ago and now decided to post it.

I'm still learning how to draw with the Wacom, as the hand eye co-ordination is very different compared to pen and paper.

You can grab yourself one here at redbubble.

92: The round Void

It's been a while since my last post, and last post that was a drawing. This drawing comes out of frustration of not be very creative over the last 2 months(maybe less).

I did this during work, on the spare minute or too, as you can see in the top left hand corner this was made over a few days.

Hopefully I'll get back into the swing of it, send some inspirations and creativity my way.

Iphone Art

As you can see by previous post’s I’ve being doing a little work via my wacom graphics tablet and my computer, mainly using Photoshop CS4. Now I have a growing interest in the power of the iphone/ipod touch as a virtual sketch book. This is one of the many applications that you can get for the iphone/ipod touch

Also artist David Hockney is now creating work via his iphone

and so is David Leibowitz

and here is another gallery of iphone/touch pictures

Another thing that interests me with this medium is the use of pens/stylus to draw on the surface this one looks very interesting.
