Some Idea's of colour and font style for a Youtube background that I will start working on. The First pic are from ration vouchers which has some great off white with black and red text which stands out quite a bit. On that same picture some other images, black and white, off white with a splash of orange works quite well. Also the second image with is some intro images from the TV series Chuck, which work on a similar basis.

Was trying to find grafikcache.com, but looks like there website is down or something wrong with the domain. A quick google came up with this site thisiscollate.com, which stream of graphic art. A good source of ideas and inspiration. Artists submit there designs which then get streamed, although it's not clear who the artist is, or maybe that info is hidden somewhere I haven't clicked on yet.

I like this above image because of the colours and simple artwork/photo's.

I even found a t-shirt on this site. This one is simple and have some great line work.

Tangrams Excercise

Currently I'm studying Graphic Design, and recently we were given the Tangram excercise. I'm shore I've done something like this back in School many years ago. Basically all you have to do is rearrange the shapes and make shore they don't overlap. There are stacks of combination's to be made. I came up with two, something that looked like a Computer character, with ear's and a tie, and below, which is more of an abstract form. When the other one comes back I'm shore to post it up.

Using a Mic With The Iphone 4

After reading this article How To Turn Your iPod Touch Into a Mobile Interview Kit [Macworld 2011] on Cult of Mac looks like you can easily hook up a mic that's not designed to use with the iphone or ipod touch.

I'm really enjoying my iphone 4 as a way to create on a portable basis. The camera is a fairly good quality and it has numerous apps to adjust and change images and video.

The only problem with the article and the original post is that a couple of links are not directing me to the product and also you could also use a different type of Mic.

My setup would contain
1. iPhone 1/8 inch microphone and headphone adapter - 3.5mm 4 conductor TRRS Male to 3.5mm TRS Jacks
I would use this to connect my 3.5mm male to 3-pin XLR Microphone cable, which from there I would connect my Rode M3. I've got a couple of other mic's that have a 3.5mm male jac so this would be more suitable to myself.

2. NAJA King Form
This Naja King Form is a great suggestion as it can move into plenty of positions and the form would allow me to fit it with a case on my iphone (like a case that has a battery for extra power).

Elvis painting idea

After watching an Elvis cowboy movie, it reminded me of pop artist Andy Warhol's artwork, and inspired me to start thinking of making some art work.

While sorting through old cd's, I found this one. This angle would be seen quite frequently in western movies, when the good and bad guy take on each other at dawn. My sketch shows I could divide this scene into 2, to fit onto the two canvases I have lying around at home.

To make the above image I used the camera, adobe ideas and ps express apps on my iPhone.

The top picture is of my bedside lamp, speaker and a tissue. Bottom picture is a speaker. Water mark was added with Impressions app, which is a great app, I've upgraded it so I can change the colour and font. Also with these drawing I used a Pogo Stylus, which I didn't like when using an iphone 3gs but it seems to work better with a iphone 4.

Recently I got my self an Iphone 4, and have now started to use this as my mini journal, something that I'm caring around, I can quickly jot down a sketch or two. This one was done at the local pub, while waiting for a meal with the Brushes App. The brushes app seems to be doing the job, not so complicated with changing colours or brush sizes; uses layers were can be merged. My main problem with this app is you can change to perspective to horizontal mode, it only works in vertical and most drawing I do are in horizontal.

3D Cat Attacks the Moon

New T-shirts up at my Red Bubble page, '3D Cat Attacks the Moon', well an astronaut on the moon. This is a followup to my 3D Cat T-shirt that I posted up on Redbubble some time ago.

This picture was put together in Photoshop, with various images sourced from the internet. I used such adjustment layers as posterise and black & white to change the image from what it had originally looked like.

You can get them in three formats one for White, Black and other colours. I done one in white and black separately to help with the printing process, as it is not recommended to print white on white or black on black.

YouTube Channel Design - Banner Image Map

One of the benefits of being a YouTube Partner is being able to put Image Map with your banner. You can use this with your banner image to put links to other website or links. To do this you could either use Adobe Fireworks or Dreamweaver, but I chose to use a free website Image Map Tool as I didn't want to download or pay for these programs just to do one thing.

The only problem with using this website was with the links, for some reason after formatting the links would move and I had to change where they sit on the image to counteract this. If you look at the above image the links are off a little, then after generating the code they would cover the image (well nearly).

New Tippett Pics Header Image

This is the new banner for my Dad's blog 'Tippett Pics', where sometimes I'll post a picture or too as well. The main focus of this blog is Point Lonsdale, where my Father lives. You'll find images of the beach, boats, and things in his garden.

The images from the header were taken a few weeks back at Point Lonsdale light house, using the Hipstamatic app on an Iphone 3gs, then compiled with Photoshop.

YouTube Channel Design

I've been redesigning Queenie's Youtube channel, she's been getting plenty of new subscribers so I thought I'd would give her page a face lift.

First draft Header

The first draft header I used pictures of the Queen, with a text style similar to Lady Ga Ga text that I saw in a magazine.

Second draft Header (final)

With the second draft I removed 3 pictures of the Queen, added a picture of Queenie and one of Port Fairy Jetty. Also I replaced the colour pink with purple, as queenie prefers purple.

I also updated her background, with similar text to the header (to keep it consistent); added photo's from the web and also from her own person library. I added borders to the images, adjusted to black & white, posterise layer effect, drop shadow effect (50% transparency) and added a black colour fill (50% transparency).

This is a poster for a K-Tigers Taekwondo centre (YouTube Channel). They had a basic word file with all the details and basic idea as to how they would like it to look, all I did was placed the text, and already made logo's in Photoshop and reformatted them. This should look good in colour as well as black and white.

Also this was one of the last days of the exhibition, and it was packed full of people which gave it some sort of celebrity event or even a football match.

n 55!w ! (T-Shirt)

'n 55!w !' or 'I miss u', idea was from a text message in a Hong Kong Movie called 'Love in a puff'. Basically this movie is about the relationships that come from standing around outside smoking. I was lucky enough to see this film in the Melbourne International Film Festival 2010. It had some great visuals of Hong Kong, like the high rise buildings.

The original version I didn't have the message coming out of someone, but now I do. In the movie the lead character Jimmy was sending a message to Cherry who he had just dropped off at her appartment.

The Image below is not from Hong Kong, but apartments around South Bank or is it South Melbourne area.

Gregory Street Directory: Part 2

Sketch Pad HTML5 Demo

Today I found this HTML5 Demo Sketch Pad. I was using this on my Mac Book with the Firefox browser. Not a pad little program, probably would be better with a Wacom Tablet or a Ipad. When saving an image it saves it as a png file in a new Firefox window. Also wonder if this would work with an iphone.

Also Darkroom is a HTLM5 photo editing program, which looks interesting.

Just watched the Artscape pod cast Photography Hijacked (via ABC au), showcasing contempory photographers. three who caught my attention were Graham Miller, Dean Karr and Angela Boatwright.

Graham Miller is Influenced by literature and Movies, creating visual short stories, capturing mood, disconnection and broken dreams. Takes pictures of Isolated people in the enviroment and has a great use of light

Dean Karr is a Rock n Roll and Music photographer and Angela Boatwright is a Photographer of Heavy Metal Culture. These took my interest as I've been taking photograph's of live music for some time now, and good change to see what other people's take is on photographing these events and people who go to them.

Above picture reminds me of the style of was going through during the late 90's and early 2000's (possibly continuing through to today) and also art Rothko.

For this picture and the one below, I was using the Iphone app Adobe Ideas, the picture above you can see an intense amount of finger strokes and marks, which in the end, make the app run really slowely.

This last image was a quick note of the sea view we had this weekend at Port Fairy. If I worked on this anymore it would of gone more abstract with shapes. With Adobe ideas it's hard to select same the same colour, unless you have the colour pallet set up with these three colours.

While drinking a coffee up at the road from my apartment, I drew this coffee cup with the Adobe Ideas App. The '10' in this pic was added afterwards, as I originally had drawn 'GT09'.

I quickly drew this program using Adobe Ideas for Iphone (also available for the Ipad). And wow it's great to use, probably the best drawing app out there and it's free too. I could go on and on about it but you can try it via Itunes. I cant wait to get an Iphone and use it as my digital sketch pad, and also an Ipad, because the Ipad now looks more like something I could use for drawing. If I get the time and hands on someones Iphone I'll post a video on this on.

For a while now I've been taking pictures of T-Shirts in shops, getting ideas and seeing what other people are making. These were taking sometime last year (2009) in a Alphaville shop, Melbourne Town.

Even More Tilt Shifting

I've been cleaning out my computers hard drive and have been going through some old pictures, back from 2008. These pictures have been altered with a tiltshifting program, you can find out more information on my last post.

Tilt Shifting

I saw some tilt shift photo's and thought I give it a go. As you can see below it makes the pictures look like miniatures, toys or a toy railway.

The the original picture was taken at Ocean Park in Hong Kong, on the 1st of March 2010.

I saw this dark painting at Randy Dragons on Wednesday night, reminded me of Rothko's work. A little slap dash as it looks like someone has just found a painting with a gold frame and painted the inside with black(actually that exactly what it is). Something I could stare into for hours, let your imagination run free.

Something I did with Microsoft Paint back on the 12 of January (or completed then). I'm thinking I might do this again on my Wacom Tablet, for a T-Shirt. As you can see it's been inspired by some of the great Street Art you can see in Melbourne, and of course the Iconic Iron Man mask.

Cassette Tape T-Shirt

Over the weekend I made this Cassette Tape T-Shirt Design. I've wanted to make one for a while and also need a new t-shirt.

I made a Black and White one. The Black version has the white and black removed and is more suited to a black t-shirt and White just has the white removed and it's more suited to a white t-shirt. Although the Black version can also been worn on a white t-shirt and would have a more faded look to it.

Digital Scrapbook # 2 - Colours

Today I just finished two cassette tape t shirts over at redbubble (which I will post more about later) and was looking for a colour pallet to use. These colours I found on VHS tape cases online. I have always enjoyed using primary colours throughout the years, there is something that hits you in the face, giving the image impact.

Faces, Colours & Dr Who

Ever since high school (1990) I've had this habit of keeping a scrap book, keeping ideas and images I find in books, newspapers, magazines and now in the modern day culture online. Last few days I thought I could do this but in a digital media by using images I find and putting them into one image, like in one of my scrap books. I've found that I've got all these images lying in a pile and I haven't yet stuck them into my journal, and hopefully this will be a more effective way, even though it's public.

These images I found in last weekends Good Weekend, taken with my camera and collated with Gimp software. I didn't use the scanner as it's way too slow and I have to turn the computer on. Digital camera's can be much more effective and quick at documentation, as long as you have the macro focus on.

The reason why I used Gimp is because this works with Portableapps. Portableapps is a software that is loaded in a USB drive and can be used with most Windows based PC's, which is great because I do use them quite a bit and it doesn't leave a footprint in the computer that your working on.

Game Over

I loved to play Doom back in the 90’s and the maps still stand out in my mind. This is a collage of maps from Doom (1) with the words Game Over cut out.

To make this I used the whole maps out of Doom 1 levels, then cut out the name Doom with a free Doom font I found. Photoshop was the main program, but I used Gimp to select all the black, as this is to go on a black t shirt only.

The only problem I've been finding with uploading to Redbubble is some colours don't work out, where the original picture above is a little bit more colourful than what's up on Redbubble. I must find out what colours I can and can not use.

Robot Add's

While going through my things at Mum and Dad's I found these postcard add from Japan, and I have many more postcards I collected and have forgotten about them.

I found these add for these battling robot toys at a robot toy store, kind of like the warhammer stores, where you could buy the robots, make them, and battle them against other robots in the store table top arena.

New Header

My new header picture. I've used a picture of a journal that on found on flicker with some Dawn of the Dead font. The size of the image is 700 x 120 pixels. I'm wanting to update this with a page from my new journal whenever I get around to buying a big one.

Update to my Youtube Background

The other day I updated the background and was a little challenge due to the recent changes youtube made, and after some googling I found a templated (which I can't remember where from) and made this. May 'Japan' Label

If you've been looking at my 'Japan' label on blogger, you've probably noticed all or most of the pictures have gone. This is due to at the time of 2005 blogger wasn't hosting pictures (maybe on there beta) so I had to host them on another website, being that of Geocities. Today I was looking at these post's, as this blog has been going for nearly 6 years, and noticed that they are all gone. This is due to Geocities being taken down form the internet by Google. It's not Googles fault as they did let me know via email that they were closing Geocities down, but I just didn't remember I was hosting any pictures on that website. Anyways have learnt so much in backing up files since then.

Iphone Art attempt # 3

The third attempt at drawing some with the iphone. This is meant to be my view outside, the problem with using my fingers you just can't get the detail. Also you can notice with the same app that I'm using you just can't get at the bottom of the screen, which is the right of the the painting you can see a white space which I couldn't fill.

My second attempt at using an Iphone to make some art, you can find the first one here. It's of a troy truck that my Niece was playing with at my Mum and Dad's house.

One of the problems with the program (Sketch Book Mobile X) I found was a few area's you couldn't draw in, mainly the bottom right had corner; and the zooming and page scrolling was a little tricky to get used to.
